Australian government has obligation to ensure safety of those who seek asylum here

Peter Catt in his role as chair of the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce has been quoted in the Fairfax media regarding the safety of refugees and asylum seekers on Manus Island. In the article he states that even if the arrangement with the United States continued, the government must act to “create safety and security for those who have languished in offshore detention for too long”.
